☆３４ A long journey starts with a single step - SEOUL / 1

Hello and welcome to SEOUL part 1。 ~★
As I already mentioned my knowledge about the korean language is literally zero - I'm able to say "thank you" and "I love you" (well, the most important things as always) - so please have mercy if there are any mistakes in the names!!

Hallo und herzlich willkommen zu SEOUL part 1。~★
Wie bereits erwähnt sind meine Kenntnisse der koreanischen Sprache gleich null - ich kann "Ich liebe dich" und "Danke" sagen (na ja wie immer halt das Wichtigste...)- seid also bitte gnädig mit mir, wenn ich die Namen falsch schreibe!!

The guy on the throne is  King Sejong, the one who invented Hangul, the korean writing. He invented some other useful or not so useful things too and seemed to be a pretty smart guy lol

The other one is an admiral how's famous for being a super skilled naval comander, therefore there's also a naval fight curved into the stone. 

Der gute Mann, der dort so erhaben auf seinem Thron thront, ist König Sejong. Er hat die koreanische Schrift Hangul erfunden und noch so einige andere nützliche oder nicht ganz so nützliche Dinge und scheint recht clever gewesen zu sein.

Der andere ist ein Admiral der für seine vielen gewonnen Seeschlachten berühmt ist. Deswegen ist auch eine Seeschlacht in den Stein geritzt.

I think that I don't know enough about the different places and actions, that took place there long time ago to tell everyone about it, so I just post pictures I guess. I hope you don't mind and enjoy those entries without much of my jabbering lol

☆２６ Apocalypse

I hope you had a good start of 2014!
Actually I wanted to go back to the chronogical order, but I'm too  lazy to finish the prepared entries and wrote a new one instead! (Oh the logic) That is really up to date, I took the pictures about an hour ago.

Ich hoffe, ihr hattet einen guten Start in 2014!
Eigentlich wollte ich ja zurück zur chronologischen Reihenfolge gehen, aber ich bin ehrlich gesagt zu faul, die vorbereiteten Einträge zu vervollständigen und habe stattdessen einen neuen geschrieben. (Oh diese Logik.) Dieser ist auch wirklich aktuell, denn ich hab die Bilder vor vielleicht einer Stunde aufgenommen.

Akita is famous for sake, rice, the Akita Inu and unfortunately for loads of snow. It's not that cold here, around -1° C and so it's snowing a lot. I went outside for about 20minutes to take the pictures and as I came back, the snow was about 10cm high. So far it seems like it won't stop at all, it's snowing all day long.
The biggest problem is, that japanese people tend to have a strange relationship with snow and streets, or with shoveling snow in general. I'm back at AIU since saturday last week and today was the first time, the shoveled the snow at the footways to the droms and university buildings. Untill today, they tried half-hearted to keep the roads for the cars passable - fuck of students lol
Even the main streets in the city close to AIU are not freed from the snow. At least most people here are good drivers.

Akita ist bekannt für Sake, Reis, den Akita Inu und leider auch für Massen an Schnee. Es ist nicht so kalt hier, etwa -1°C und daher schneit es viel. Ich war für vielleicht 20 Minuten draußen um die Bilder zu machen, in der Zeit hatte es wieder 10cm geschneit, mindestens. Und bisher sieht es so aus, als würde es nicht so bald aufhören...
Das größte Problem ist, dass Japaner eine seltsame Beziehung zu Schnee auf Straßen und zum Schnee Schippen allgemein haben. Ich bin seit Samstag letzter Woche zurück an der AIU und heute war das erste Mal, dass die Fußwege auf dem Campus vom Schnee befreit wurden. Bis heute hat man mehr oder weniger halbherzig versucht, die Straßen für die Autos frei zu halten - Scheiß auf Studenten lol
Sogar die Hauptstraßen in der Stadt sind nicht wirklich geschippt. Wenigstens sind die meisten hier gute Autofahrer.

As everything's pearly-white the height of the snow is probably not that visible. I didn't have anyone on hand to take a picture of me with the snow so you can't see a comparison. The lowest level of snow I've seen so far is up to my knees, the highest one waist-high. Yes. This white fucking fluffy thingy is going up to my waist!
While walking on campus it's really important to always keep to the trails other students have already walked in. Because if you miss the trail and step on lose snow you don't know how deep you sink in. Happened to me twice, first time I sunk in to the middle of my calf, this morning it was untill my knee.

Da alles strahlend weiß ist, kann man wahrscheinlich nicht so wirklich sehen, wie hoch der Schnee wirklich liegt. Ich hatte leider niemanden zur Hand, der ein Vergleichsfoto von mir und dem Schnee machen konnte (klar, bei dem Wetter geht ja auch keiner freiwillig vor die Tür). Das niedrigste Schneelevel das ich gesehen hab, war etwa bis zu meinem Knie, das höchste bis zu meiner Hüfte. Ja, dieses verdammte weiße Zeug reicht stellenweise bis zu meiner Hüfte! 
Beim Laufen auf dem Campus ist im Allgemeinen zu beachten, dass man auf den Trampelpfaden geht, die andere Studenten schon getrampelt haben. WEIL NÄMLICH, wenn man neben den Trampelpfad aus festgetretenem Schnee tritt, weiß man nie, wie tief man einsinkt. Ist mir bisher zweimal passiert, das erste Mal bis zur Wade und heute morgen dann bis zum Knie.

As mentioned above, it's actually not that cold outside. Unfortunately japanese houses are not isolated at all. I don't really know the reason, some people say it's because of the earthquakes, so you have to rather build light houses that can be easily replaced when destroyed. (I don't really know if there has ever been an earthquake in Akita that actually destroyed a building....)However my personal opinion is, that japanese people apply their 'It's been always like that'-thinking on the cold, too. Like, all the other japanese people before us were cold too, that's how life goes.
And yes, this japanese thinking does exist. If it's the cause for the non-isolated houses or not; it's cold here. The AC is used as a heater, too but oh you don't want to see an electricity bill. Me neither by way!

And that's a good point to finish this entry!

Wie bereits oben erwähnt ist es eigentlich nicht so kalt hier. Leider Gottes sind japanische Häuser so gar nicht isoliert. Isolierung? Was ist das? Kann man das essen? In etwa. Den Grund dafür weiß ich ehrlich gesagt nicht, manche meinen, es sei aufgrund der Erdbeben. Man baut Häuser, die im Falle eines Erdbebens schnell und billig wieder aufgebaut werden können.(Wobei ich ehrlich gesagt nicht weiß, ob es jemals in Akita ein Erdbeben gab, das tatsächlich ein Gebäude zerstört hat) Meine eigene Meinung hingegen ist, dass die Japaner ihr 'Das war eben schon immer so'-Denken auch auf die Kälte anwenden. Also von wegen, die anderen Japaner vor uns haben auch gefroren das ist eben so.
Und ja, dieses Denken existiert, ob es der Grund für diese verdammt zugigen Häuser ist oder nicht; es ist verdammt kalt hier. Die Klimaanlage wird hier auch als Heizung benutzt, aber ihr wollt die Stromrechnung lieber nicht sehen. Ich übrigens auch nicht!

☆１５仙台 - Sendai

Welcome Everyone ~♡
Last weekend, which was a long weekend for us in Akita, because monday had been a holiday, I took a bus to visit 仙台! The city won notoriety in march 2011, due to the disastrous earthquake and tsunami catastrophe. By now you can't really tell that there had been any damage, it's a beautiful, lively city and I recommend visiting it to everyone!

Letztes Wochenende, das für uns in Akita sogar ein langes war, da der Montag ein Feiertag war, nahm ich einen Bus um mich ein bisschen in 仙台 umzuschauen! Die Stadt erlangte im März 2011 traurige Berühmtheit durch das verheerende Erdbeben und Tsunami Unglück. Heute kann man nicht mehr wirklich etwas von Schaden sehen, es ist eine wunderschöne, lebhafte Stadt und ich empfehle jedem, dort einmal hinzugehen!

My plan to go there was a bit spontaneous, therefore also chaotic and the first thing that went totally off-plan, was the bus I wanted to take from the campus to the station. It takes longer than I expected to go from the campus to Wada station, therefore I had to take a cab to reach the train to Akita City, where I got on the bus to Sendai. I don't like taking cabs in general, and then I had to take even a japanese cab, you can tell by this burden already, how important it was for me to go to there.

Mein Plan dorthin zu gehen, war ziemlich spontan und deswegen auch sehr chaotisch. Das erste, das schief lief war auch gleich der Bus, den ich eigentlich vom Campus nehmen wollte; es dauert länger, bis nach Wada station, daher musste ich ein Taxi nehmen um den Zug nach Akita City noch zu erwischen, wo ich in den Bus nach Sendai stieg.Ich fahre im Allgemeinen nicht gerne Taxi (schon gar nicht alleine!), und nun musste ich auch noch ein japanisches nehmen, man kann schon daran sehen, wie wichtig es für mich war, nach Sendai zu kommen.

It takes less than 4 hours to go to Sendai from Akita City and I paied 7,200Yen for the roundway, which is cheap, compared to other prices here I think. The bus ride was nice and comfortable, I slept a bit, listened to music and studied some vocabulary. Just like the night bus, around every 2 hrs the bus stops at a roadhouse, that all the passengers are able to go to the bathroom, or get something to drink and eat.
In Sendai the bus stop for the bus coming from Akita is not directly at the main station, you have to walk around a corner and then you'll see it, takes about 5 minutes and you'll get to the first out of quite a number of shopping centers on your way. This was by far the best one I've been to in Sendai, because there were a lot of brands I like located! Go there, if you're interested in japanese fashion!

Von Akita nach Sendai mit dem Bus dauert es etwa 4 Stunden und ich habe für den Rundweg 7,200Yen bezahlt, was ich im Vergleich mit anderen Preisen recht günstig finde. Die Busfahrt war ruhig und gemütlich, ich habe ein bisschen geschlafen, Musik gehört und Vokabeln gelernt. Wie die Nachtbusse auch, hält dieser Bus etwa alle 2 Stunden an einer Raststätte, dass die Passagiere auf die Toilette gehen können, oder sich etwas zu trinken und zu essen kaufen können.
Die Haltestelle für den Bus aus Akita ist in Sendai nicht direkt am Hauptbahnhof, man muss einmal um die Ecke gehen und dann kann man ihn sehen. Es dauert etwa 5 Minuten und auf dem Weg, sieht man schon das erste von zahlreichen anderen Kaufhäusern in Sendai. Das war mit Abstand auch das beste von denen, die ich in Sendai besucht habe, denn einige der Marken die ich mag, waren dort. Geht auf jeden Fall dorthin, wenn ihr euch für Japanische Mode interessiert!

Two things that surprised me right from the beginning; There are a lot of plants, trees and even flowers in Sendai, nearly everywhere I went, I could spot some green which is really relaxing and in my opinion rare in Japan. The other thing is rare in this country too; the benches. Normally in Japan benches are provided rarely, because of reasons I don't know. It's the same with garbage bins; I once was told, that the garbage bins disappeared after 9/11 but I don't know if that's true or not. Fact is; no garbage bins in japanese cities, you have to carry your garbage home (and separate it there!!!)

Zwei Dinge, die mich in Sendai gleich zu Anfang überraschten; Es gibt jede Menge Pflanzen, Bäume und sogar Blumen, nahezu überall wo ich war, konnte ich etwas grün ausmachen, was sehr beruhigend und meiner Meinung nach eher selten ist in Japan. Das andere seltene in diesem Land sind Bänke. Normalerweise gibt es in Japan keine Bänke, aus Gründen die ich nicht weiß. Das selbe gilt übrigens für Mülleimer; in Japan gibt es keine öffentlichen. Mir wurde mal gesagt, dass sie nach dem 11. September abgeschafft wurden, aber ich weiß nicht ob das stimmt. Fakt ist; Man muss seinen Müll nach Hause tragen (und dort ordnungsgemäßg trennen!!!!)

Actually I went to Sendai on this particular day for a reason. Sometime I need to prove to myself that I can achieve certain things - going to Sendai on my own (it was not only the first time being in this city for me, but also the first time traveling alone in Japan at all), meeting someone and survive add up to one of these things and to a great experience. Although I got lost in Sendai on my way to a certain point, because I got confused with my google maps map and strayed around the area like a confused kitty, but in the end, I'm glad I had been there! Especially because I got so much kinda personal input there; not only by the one person I met there, but also by some others.

Eigentlich fuhr ich aus einem bestimmten Grund nach Sendai. Ich muss mir manchmal selbst beweisen, dass ich bestimmte Ziele erreichen kann - ganz allein nach Sendai zu fahren (nicht nur das erste Mal nach Sendai, sondern auch das erste Mal allein in Japan allgemein), jemanden zu treffen und zu überleben, summiert sich zu exakt jenem Ziel und einer großartigen Erfahrung. Obwohl ich mich in Sendai verlaufen habe, weil ich mit meinen google Maps Karten nicht mehr klar kam und herum geirrt bin wie ein verwirtes Kätzchen, im Endeffekt bin ich froh, dort gewesen zu sein!  Besonders, weil ich sehr viel Positives für mich selbst bekommen habe, nicht nur von dem, den ich dort getroffen habe sondern auch von anderen.

Exactly 5 minutes before I had to leave Sendai again, nearly another catastrophe happened. I saw the bus for Akita arriving, it got called by the counter clerk and a line formed. As the nice gaijin I am, I queued up at the end of the new forming line and waited. And waited. And waited. About one minute before my bus was scheduled to leave, I realized, that something was wrong, because my line didn't move any cm!!
I rushed to the front of the line just to see, that the people got on the bus to Akita without a line! At exactly 7.59 am I reached the bus, leaving at 8.00am lol

Exact 5 Minuten bevor ich Sendai eigentlich planmäßig verlassen sollte, passierte beinahe die nächste Katastrophe. Ich habe gesehen wie der Bus für Akita ankam, dann wurde er aufgerufen und ich wollte brave, japanische (*hust*) Bürgerin sein, und habe mich in die Schlange eingereiht. Und gewartet. Und gewartet. Etwa eine Minute bevor der Bus eigentlich schon losfahren sollte, fiel mir dann mal auf, dass sich meine Schlange nicht einen einzigen Zentimeter bewegt hatte!
Ich rannte zum Anfang dere Schlange um zu sehen, wie die Leute in den Bus für Akita ganz ohne Schlange einstiegen. Um 7.59 Uhr habe ich dann auch meinen Zielbus erreicht, der um 8.00 Uhr Abfahrt hatte, und als Letzte meinen Platz eingenommen ... Das passiert, wenn man sich anpassen möchte!

I tried to find pictures, that captured my view on Sendai, but by looking at it now, I'm pretty sure I completely failed. Therefore I really encourage you, to go there! I hadn't had a lot of time, therefore I skipped all of the sightseeing things, concentrated on the reason I went there, but next time I'm going to stay there longer and visit all these nice spots that are located directly in and close to Sendai!
Sendai, I'll be back! Wait for me ♥

Ich habe versucht Bilder zu finden, die meinen Blick auf Sendai zeigen, aber wenn ich mir diesen Eintrag jetzt ansehe, habe ich komplett versagt. Deswegen ermutige ich wirklich jeden, geht in diese Stadt und seht sie euch selbst an! Ich hatte leider nicht sehr viel Zeit dort, deswegen habe ich so gut wie alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sausen lassen und mich auf den Hauptgrund meines Besuches dort konzentriert, aber das nächste Mal werde ich länger bleiben und all die schönen Orte besuchen, die es in Sendai und in der Nähe gibt!
Sendai, ich komme wieder! Warte auf mich ♥
